Just a Question of Love (2000)

Perhaps, 90% of this type of movie deal with the closet and/or coming out of one.  Still, this one is nicely put together.  The leads are, well, attractive enough, too.

I’ve seen a fair number of gay themed movies, and you’d think America and Britain would make the most interesting ones.  But actually, the French do an outstanding job and make very unique movies.  This is in spite of the hassle of having to read the subtitles — they speak too fast and with too much slang for me to catch much with my high school french.

Defying Gravity (1997)

A demonstration of collective IQ decrease when guys are in groups in this film about a closeted frat boy.  Acting is okay to spotty, and script is a bit formulaic but workable.  It’s strange, whenever a woman enters the scene everything seems to get more rational; but get a bunch of guys together and rash and idiotic conflict abounds.

Red Dirt (2000)

This movie has very slow pacing and a flawed ending which seems almost an afterthought and is   incongruous.  Small southern town is well portrayed as isolated, surely the production didn’t have a single extra on the payroll.

Laugh out loud funny and yet realistic portrayal of a group of friends like the Friends tv show, except that a couple of them are gay.
